The Psalter (Psalms) is the most beautiful and unique song book known to man.

The Psalter explores the human heart like no other book ever penned. Its primary uniqueness comes in the fact that the original words were inspired by God, the creator of the universe. It is the only song book in human history to be able to make that claim.

This puts it in a category of one.

It begins in Psalm 1 by telling us how to live for God and to respond to him in a healthy, growing and vital, vibrant personal relationship—a divine waltz―not a cold, dead, religious and laborious slog. It tells us how to avoid sin, and the evil thrown upon us in a fallen world by the evil one. It continues for five books, with 150 songs that cover the entire journey of the human experience—from the depths of the despair of human failure, human lostness, human frailty and sin, and human need, to the heights of the majesty, power and incomprehensible glory of our Creator.

It rolls back the curtain of the human heart as it reaches out to the one that created this heart and touches the outstretched hand of its Creator, exposing it to his healing and masterful touch.

It uses the intricate beauty of Hebrew acrostic poetry and parallelism to convey from the mind of our Creator the most wonderful and transcendent truths known to humanity, for they come from him.

For thousands of years, every generation of believers have arranged its words in musical wardrobes suitable to their times, right up until today, as every day and every time we gather in his name, we continue to sing his inspired words in wondrous, responsive worship to this self-revealing, pursuing God of ours.

It ends with the fascinating finale of Psalm 150 in the apex of worship, the climactic summit of responsive praise to God. Through musical instruments, to the heavens, to the final verse we find the actuated and unfiltered worship of God coming in the distilled purity of one command:

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

*******************************

Praise the Lord!

Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 150:1–6 NKJV

We can come to know Christ through confession of our sins and repentance (turning away from sin). Let me encourage you to do this by talking to God through prayer. Here is an idea of how you might do that:

"Dear God, I believe your son Jesus Christ died in my place on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day following his death. I confess my sins, all of them, to you now with a humble heart. I repent of those sins and ask you to empower me with your Holy Spirit in overcoming further sin. Amen”

If you prayed this or a similar prayer committing your life to Christ and becoming one of his followers, let me encourage you to find a good, Bible-believing church. If you live in the Weslaco/Rio Grand Valley area of Texas, let me invite you to the church I attend, Mid-Valley Assembly (www.midvalleyassembly.com).

Begin talking to God in prayer and reading the Bible daily. A good way to begin to read the Bible is to start with the Book of John in the New Testament.

Feel very free in connecting with me if you need any further help in your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. You can do this via the above email or facebook page or this web page.
